There is something about a pair of sunglasses that certainly makes them one of the most excellent "must-have" items of all time. Not only are they immensely practical, offering protection against the dangers of the sun, are a way highly versatile accessory, available in a wide range of styles, colors and prices all pockets. Given its popularity around the world, the manufacture of sunglasses has become a very lucrative, but the industry highly competitive, and while some manufacturers rise and fall of public affections, there is a company that remains forever synonymous with the eyeglasses that protect our eyes from the sun: Ray-Ban
Although we are President, Benjamin Franklin is often credited with inventing eyeglasses (he was the developer of the first lens bifocal in the 1780s), the first reading glasses were developed in Italy, and in 1260. People continued to be fascinated by all things optical throughout the centuries that followed, then, in mid-nineteenth century the British scientist James Ayscough began investigating with tinted windows and the possibility that this technology can be used to improve vision visual impairment. As successful as it was, it was not until 1929 that the idea that glasses could filter the sun's rays was given serious consideration. At that time, the U.S. company optical, Foster Grant, began developing the idea further, until finally, the same year, the first pair of sunglasses sold in a Woolworth on the boardwalk of Atlantic City.
Recognizing that new technology would be beneficial to the pilots, the U.S. Air Corps Army asked another prominent American company, Bausch & Lomb to develop lenses that protect the eyes from the dangers of the sun, where the flight.
Are U.S. eyewear company, Ray-Ban, who really ran with the concept. In 1936, the use of newly available polarized lenses, and a comprehensive framework that offers maximum protection for the brightness of an instrument panel, Ray-Ban began producing a lens that banned the sun rays. Ray-Ban continued to develop new styles and designs in the 1970s and 1980s: their "wings" model was actually a precursor to the modern, half of calendar the goal today.
